One of the most fun activities there is in Raleigh is the First Friday Art Walk. Galleries, Restaurants and Shops open into the evening and it is an opportunity to meet some of local artists while enjoying a glass of wine.

Durham celebrates their Art Walk on the third Friday & Saturday. I am not sure of plans for December in Durham as the web site has not been updated yet.
